Brändöskär

Brändöskär is a rather special and very
beautiful island situated in the outer limits of the Archipelago.
Although it is subject to a great deal of wind and weather it is
still an island that, more than most others, has a genuine
archipelago character.

The edges of the island have an upland character and consist of
smooth rock. The fishing village lies in a sheltered bay, where
there is also a public jetty and washroom facilities. In severe
weather it can be difficult to approach and leave the bay,
especially if there is a southwesterly wind.

During the summer you can sail to Brandöskär on the M/S Ronja
or M/S Laponia.

Worth seeing: The chapel, the Haparanda monzonit rock that
forms the shore rock slabs, the island’s fascinating scenery. Ola
Taube, an artist from Luleå, lives on Uddskär, which is a part of
Brandöskär, during the summer. Why not pay a visit to his studio
and see his exhibition of beautiful watercolours.
