Hindersön

Hinder Island is one of the larger islands in the Luleå Archipelago and the only island north of Arholma in the Stockholm Archipelago where farming is carried out. As early as in the 16th century the island was inhabited by settlers who earned their living by fishing, farming and seal hunting.

Hindersön has a permanent population, and in the 1940s about 100 people lived on the island. The island can be approached from three different directions – from Ostisund, Norrisund and the bay where Jopikgården is situated.

During the summer you can sail to Hinder Island on the M/S Laponia and M/S Ronja.
